Arrkyv (pronounced Archive) mail club was founded in 2026 by Arrianna Vasquez. Arrkyv began as a way for me to find community through a combination of my many, sometimes oddly specific, interests. I have always been fascinated by the ways cultures throughout history have expressed themselves, especially the seemingly poetic ways people have given meaning to otherwise ordinary parts of life. Journaling has always been a creative outlet for me and hoarding stickers and various stationery is a serious problem of mine! While history fascinates me, I am also terrible at timelines. I often find myself wanting to skip to the strange, beautiful, funny, or fascinating details instead. (Who else grew up searching for all the oddities books at the library?) My goal with Arrkyv is to create a way to discover interesting histories and learn new ideas by introducing elements of them in tangible modern ways. Each month is inspired by something I’ve found interesting and is my own interpretation of the history, traditions, and stories that have captured my attention. Arrkyv is ultimately an archive of these histories through my eyes, and hopefully something that captures your attention, too.
A small note on cultural respect:
I do my best to use reputable sources and, when possible, learn from experts and people who are part of the cultures I am taking inspiration from. I am not an expert on every culture I explore, and I know that good intentions do not automatically make an interpretation respectful or accurate. I am also aware that it can be very easy to romanticize cultures, simplify complicated histories, or miss something that is offensive and inappropriate.
If I get something wrong, I genuinely want to know. Fact-checks, corrections, and thoughtful cultural context are always welcome. Arrkyv is about learning, learning through community.
